Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement concerns the electronic service for waste management implemented by Vitec Tietomitta.

The electronic service is subject to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (available in Finnish and Swedish). Under the act, public online services must be accessible. This means that everyone should have equal opportunities to use online services.

This statement describes the identified shortcomings in the accessibility of this website and provides information on how you can give us feedback on the accessibility of the service.

Accessibility of the service

The transaction service is not yet fully compliant with the requirements. Users may encounter some accessibility issues on the site. Below is a list of the most significant issues known to us. The problems mainly relate to the site's perceivability and operability.

Non-accessible content

Users may encounter some accessibility issues on the site. Below is a list of the most significant issues known to us. The problems mainly relate to the site's perceivability and operability.

Missing text alternatives for images

Some images and icon buttons on content pages do not have descriptive text alternatives. Essential information is not conveyed due to inadequate text alternatives, for example, in the logo image.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content.

Errors in the heading hierarchy of pages

The order of heading levels in the HTML code of pages is partly incorrect. This may make it difficult to navigate the page using a screen reader.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 1.3.1 Information and Relationships.

Deficiencies in the site's HTML structure

There are deficiencies in describing the site's HTML structure for assistive technology. This hinders, for example, the ability of screen reader users to navigate the site effectively.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 1.3.1 Information and Relationships.

Missing labels in form fields

In some forms of the online service, field labels are not correctly marked. This can make it challenging for screen reader users to navigate the forms.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 1.3.1 Information and Relationships, 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions.

Contrast issues in the content

The contrast between text and background color is not always sufficient.

Accessibility criteria not met: 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)

The site does not have a "Skip to Content" link that would allow users utilizing assistive technology or navigating with the keyboard to bypass the top menus and header areas and go directly to the main content. This may cause difficulties especially for screen reader users and those navigating the site solely with the keyboard.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard, WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks.

Deficiencies in keyboard usage

Users cannot navigate to all visible elements on the site using the keyboard. The focus order is not always consistent.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard, 2.4.3 Focus Order, 2.4.7 Focus Visible.

Unexpected effect of the escape (Esc) key

When a user presses the Esc key while the calendar component is active, it closes the entire wizard. This is particularly problematic for users who expect the Esc key to close only the calendar component and not the entire function.

Accessibility criteria not met: WCAG 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap, 3.2.5 Change on Request.
